Melt Off That Fat!

Sorry I've been away! I've been undergoing a makeover and hunting down beauty products all over the city!

Now, some people have busy schedules and may not have time to spent 2 hours in the gym every day. Familial life, work, cooking, cleaning, etc etc takes up a lot of time, doesn't it? When I have a packed day, I don't feel like working out either. I guess the only thing to do is to integrate exercise into your daily activities.

1. Light housework - (i.e. dusting or washing up)

These activities also burn little total calories - around 2-3*calories per minute. Higher percentages of fat will be utilised around 70%* of calories burned.

It may seem unusual to include these types of activities when trying to lose weight but they can be a great aid for speeding metabolism. For example performing more chores around the house regularly would increase activity therefore increase the energy expenditure for the day. Total calories burned would be much higher and result in a great amount of fat burned.

Adding these

kind of activities to an exercise program can accelerate the metabolism. When you start to lose weight fast you'll never look at housework in the same light again!

Walking

Walking is said to be one of the best exercises for losing weight. The percentage of fat burning is around the 55% ** mark, however as with all exercises it really depends on the intensity of effort.

Walking not only burns a good proportion of stored fat it can also burn a large amount of calories especially performed for longer durations and at a brisk pace. A good balance between the percentage of fat and the total calories burned should be the basis behind choosing any exercise for losing weight.

You can also try buying a used bicycle if you don't own one (try your local Craigslist ads or garage sales in your community) and biking to the grocery store or to work if it isn't a far distance. Bike to the postal office, etc. If you are getting groceries, I would recommend putting a basket or crate on your bike if it doesn't already come with one, rather than balancing the shopping bags on the handle bars as this may unbalance the bike and cause you to fall and get seriously injured!

While biking, it would be a nice idea to invest in a pair of light-weight lycra pants, a breathable cotton shirt, a stainless steel water bottle and a pair of sturdy running shoes!

You can also do sit-ups while watching TV during commercials. Just 15-20 situps can be a big deal over a week! Try to drink water instead of juices and pop for a week, and add lemon too!

Use the stairs instead of the escalator (I'm a big suck for escalators, I'll go out of my way to find out...but I have a long walk home; so maybe that's fair?) and if you are walking uphill....try to walk faster and tighten your glutes!

Use every opportunity in your day to burn that fat off. There's so many! Are you going to the park with a younger sister or son? Why don't you swing off the jungle gym with them? You will be getting toned arms and having fun too! Are you walking your daughter home from kindergarten? Why don't you guys race it to the front door? Did you just give birth? Well join a mothers jogging group and jog with your stroller.

I hate exercising, but if I can be active for 10 minutes during my day when I'd normally be sedentary, that's a start. If you really want to be thinner or look hotter, it does take some sacrifice. All good things do!

DAY 2: HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE?

Technically, it is still Day 1. I posted at 3am last night and tonight I have done a very quick 20-minute upper-arm workout while listening to my "workout CD" of fellow Torontonian Just Bieber, Lady Gaga, Taio Cruz, Kesha and Black Eyed Peas. Watching my arm fat swinging left and right like a dangerous instrument was pretty depressing, to say the least.
It made me wonder how many months under they're long and lean and sculpted. How much longer do I have to lift up this dumb dumb-bell? I wonder how long it takes it lose 55 lbs.

I checked on some diet and lifestyle websites and it has taken people an average of 4 months to lose 50 lbs. For one person, it took 9 months (I am so not waiting that long, there is outfits to be worn!!!). But generally it has taken most dietters around 4 months to bust 50 lbs.

I am wistfully looking forward to slipping into my size 3 Parasuco skinny jeans, and being able to close the buttons on my Roots winter peacoat again. I have drawers of folded jeans with a layer of dust on them, beautiful designer clothing I can't fit into. If I could put on my jeans again....I will be so happy. That truly is my motivation--my clothes.

Today I ate 1/2 cup of whole-grain oatmeal with skim milk and sweetened with brown sugar, and a big plate of salad with no salad dressing, just vinegar and a few croutons (I stole two small bites of my Mum's macaroni and cheese though...but then I popped two fat-burning diet pills..so karma should be even). I wouldn't normally eat oat meal, or any carb other than sushi, Mmmmmm, but there is NOTHING left in the house. Tomorrow is grocery shopping.

And tomorrow I have already planned out what I'm eating since I'll be on the go from 7am to about 11pm or later. I will have a large Soy-Banana-Strawberry Booster Juice with spirulina around 12, then sushi around 2pm. Sushi keeps me REALLY full, so that's all I'll be eating tomorrow. For breakfast, I'll probably have a bit more of that oatmeal, but it's really watery so more milk than oats.

And as for the grocery run, I'll remember to stock up on asparagus and low-cal food like delicious salmon.

WHEN YOU WAKE UP...ASK YOURSELF--"WHAT WOULD VICTORIA BECKHAM EAT?"

If you want to be thin, it's not a 1-week fling. Honey, this is a serious relationship. Get serious.

If you're going to do something, GO ALL OUT.

Wake up in the morning, feeling like P.Diddy. Okay, usually I don't. But I do wake up in the morning needing Starbucks. I love my yummy lattes but go Mary Kate Olsen and just order a venti black Mild. First of all, the Mild is stronger and has more caffeine than the Bold. Sip on this throughout the day, smoke a few ciggs and you'll be great. The caffeine will make you feel high and superior.

If you do feel somewhat faint and need nourishment, I suggest either a nearby Booster Juice (or Jamba Juice, they're similar) or a fruit-and-nut bar from Starbucks.

I will begin to follow my own advice. I will ask myself whenever my stomach growls incessantly, as it is doing right now, "What would Victoria Beckham eat?". My new life will comprise of clear soups and organic fruit smoothies. Are you prepared for the jump? Am I? Some feminists say worrying and being preoccupied about your weight is propoganda from the government who want women to not pay attention to serious matters like law, war and politics but really, WHO IS HAPPY BEING FAT? All I will think during election week and World War III Is how I am sweating profusely through my fat glands!

Tomorrow, when I arise on a beautiful sunny day, I will ask myself, "What Would Victoria Eat?"

If I had to choose between the parfait and the egg McMuffin....I know she'd go for the parfait. So, I'd go for it too. It's about CHOICES. DECISIONS. Eat choice you make can either make you Kate Moss (without the coke addiction, hopefully) or make you Rosie MacDonald. You pick. I know I am.
