Ode to Sushi

It was love at first bite. The California roll was how we got it rollin'. Sashimi was soon to follow. Nothing I had eaten before would draw me back to it like a lost lover. No matter the price, no matter the location; it was worth it for well-rolled, fresh sushi. Oh, how happy I would be if in Japan.
I love sushi. Actually, that's an understatement. I am devoted and inclined to the joy of consuming sushi. Twice I have tried to make sushi from scratch (let's not go there....it was quite embarassing, and yes I do have pics.) Whether the tasty Americanized version or the standard Japanese fare--sushi is one of the most delicious foods this great earth has to offer. And best of all, it's good for you.
The roasted seaweed and raw fish are sources of omega-3 fatty acids, protein and calcium. If you want the greatest source of protein--eat the yellowtail and tuna varieties of sushi. The thin, toasted seaweed sheets, called Nori, used in rolled (maki) sushi are high in Vitamin A
, B-complex, Niacin and Vitamin C. It is also good for digestion.

Ginger, called 'gari', is often served alongside sushi and helps with digestion while also fighting bacteria. This is especially of interest to those concerned with the bacteria found in uncooked meat.
Wasabi, Japanese horseradish, can also kill bacteria found in raw fish and is often provided alongside sushi servings as a garnish or is included as in nigiri sushi.

DAY 2: HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE?

Technically, it is still Day 1. I posted at 3am last night and tonight I have done a very quick 20-minute upper-arm workout while listening to my "workout CD" of fellow Torontonian Just Bieber, Lady Gaga, Taio Cruz, Kesha and Black Eyed Peas. Watching my arm fat swinging left and right like a dangerous instrument was pretty depressing, to say the least.
It made me wonder how many months under they're long and lean and sculpted. How much longer do I have to lift up this dumb dumb-bell? I wonder how long it takes it lose 55 lbs.
I checked on some diet and lifestyle websites and it has taken people an average of 4 months to lose 50 lbs. For one person, it took 9 months (I am so not waiting that long, there is outfits to be worn!!!). But generally it has taken most dietters around 4 months to bust 50 lbs.
I am wistfully looking forward to slipping into my size 3 Parasuco skinny jeans, and being able to close the buttons on my Roots winter peacoat again. I have drawers of folded jeans with a layer of dust on them, beautiful designer clothing I can't fit into. If I could put on my jeans again....I will be so happy. That truly is my motivation--my clothes.
Today I ate 1/2 cup of whole-grain oatmeal with skim milk and sweetened with brown sugar, and a big plate of salad with no salad dressing, just vinegar and a few croutons (I stole two small bites of my Mum's macaroni and cheese though...but then I popped two fat-burning diet pills..so karma should be even). I wouldn't normally eat oat meal, or any carb other than sushi, Mmmmmm, but there is NOTHING left in the house. Tomorrow is grocery shopping.
And tomorrow I have already planned out what I'm eating since I'll be on the go from 7am to about 11pm or later. I will have a large Soy-Banana-Strawberry Booster Juice with spirulina around 12, then sushi around 2pm. Sushi keeps me REALLY full, so that's all I'll be eating tomorrow. For breakfast, I'll probably have a bit more of that oatmeal, but it's really watery so more milk than oats.
And as for the grocery run, I'll remember to stock up on asparagus and low-cal food like delicious salmon.

Drink your 2.5 L of water, Women!

If you're always on the run, like me, you may forget to drink water. Especially when there are so many tasty alternatives. If you are at a restaurant, fill up on your free ice water as much as possible, even better if it's lemon water!!!
Drinking your H2o has never been easier with these stylish bottles. Remember to drink your 8-12 glasses a day, or 1-2 gallons of water if you're a fitness buff. Water helps you lose weight, rids your body of toxins and makes you look more refreshed and youthful. Drink your water ladies, I'm on my 2nd glass....and it's 7:30pm...I better giddy up and at least drink 8!

Skinny's Blog Take on Celebs Now.

Jessica Biel is looking very thintastic lately, probably trying to keep her BF away from Cameron Diaz. Keep up the dietting and Pilates, Jess! Her legs are enviable.
Paris looks svelte in red, wherever in the globe she is. And is just me or does Halle
Berry look skinnier
than usual? I guess
there's nothing like a
break up to get you
looking fab!

Diet Secrets of the Stars
I would do ANYTHING for the Immacute Legs of Victoria Beckham. And she had 3 kids? Jesus.
I have a few diet secrets of my own, but there is nothing to lose in learning more! I have researched and found how stars stay slim and sexy.
Ahlanlive.com reports: Eat asparagusThere's no fridge in Hollywood that isn't stuffed with bunches of asparagus. A natural diuretic, this yummy vegetable diminishes bloating and is essential for helping Hollywooders slip into their skinniest jeans. Owen Wilson eats it by the barrel load every day, topped off with plenty of fresh parsley to boost the effects.
Okay that's not bad. Asparagus is tasty and doesn't take long to cook. It's not too expensive either. I will have to stock up on asparagus tomorrow at the grocery store!!!! I'll memo that to my Blackberry.
Forget about fancy bubble baths. Victoria's Secret model Heidi Klum bathes in common old Epsom Salts to banish bloating before she hits the runway, as the magnesium sulphate in the salts is said to draw out fluids in the body.
OK, I already have epsom salts. So a few soaks in salt will banish my oversized tummy? Perfect! And I thought I needed plastic surgery!
The gorgeous Cindy Crawford sips vinegar before dining out at a restaurant, as it kills the appetite. Brilliant if you're counting calories and trying to save cash
Umm, yuck. Vinegar? I use that to scrub the house. Maybe a white-vinegar and olive oil vinaigrette on a sald before I go out....that's the only way I can fathom drinking that benign stuff!
Make time for tea-No, not the usual variety - we're talking dandelion. Gwyneth and Madon
na both sip on this healthy brew to banish water retention.

Brush your teethThought a twice-daily brush was enough? Wrong! Starlets who want fabulous teeth and a teeny waistline never go anywhere without their toothbrush. According to a Hollywood nutritionalist, the best way to stay thin is to clean your teeth immediately after you've eaten, because the minty taste in your mouth signals to your brain that you are full. Uber-buff Matt McConaughy uses this trick to help keep his pearlies white - and those incredible abs super-tight.
Sounds like a pain in the ass, but fine. I don't mind whitening my teeth anyway and tricking my stubborn brain too, while I'm eat. "I'll still hungry." Brush teeth. "Oh, hey, what would you know? I'm full!" Will carry an extra toothrbush and small tube of natural toothpaste in my purse.
An apple a daySweet tooth getting the better of you? Copy Demi Moore and nibble on apple slices dipped in peanut butter when dying to ransack the biscuit barrel - it'll give you a healthier sugar fix, and stop you polishing off all the chocolate Hob Nobs.
Mmmmm Peanut butter. No carbs here, so this will be added to my grocery list. Thanks, Demi!
Secret weapon: Ankle weights. Gwyn’s been wearing ankle weights for all her high-cardio workouts – resulting in some seriously super-toned pins.
Gwyneth Paltrow has never had a fat moment, now I know why. Ankle weights. Hmm I will have to look into these and find. Not exactly sure how I'd fit these into my schedule...but I'll try!

WHEN YOU WAKE UP...ASK YOURSELF--"WHAT WOULD VICTORIA BECKHAM EAT?"

If you want to be thin, it's not a 1-week fling. Honey, this is a serious relationship. Get serious.
If you're going to do something, GO ALL OUT.
Wake up in the morning, feeling like P.Diddy. Okay, usually I don't. But I do wake up in the morning needing Starbucks. I love my yummy lattes but go Mary Kate Olsen and just order a venti black Mild. First of all, the Mild is stronger and has more caffeine than the Bold. Sip on this throughout the day, smoke a few ciggs and you'll be great. The caffeine will make you feel high and superior.
If you do feel somewhat faint and need nourishment, I suggest either a nearby Booster Juice (or Jamba Juice, they're similar) or a fruit-and-nut bar from Starbucks.
I will begin to follow my own advice. I will ask myself whenever my stomach growls incessantly, as it is doing right now, "What would Victoria Beckham eat?". My new life will comprise of clear soups and organic fruit smoothies. Are you prepared for the jump? Am I? Some feminists say worrying and being preoccupied about your weight is propoganda from the government who want women to not pay attention to serious matters like law, war and politics but really, WHO IS HAPPY BEING FAT? All I will think during election week and World War III Is how I am sweating profusely through my fat glands!
Tomorrow, when I arise on a beautiful sunny day, I will ask myself, "What Would Victoria Eat?"
If I had to choose between the parfait and the egg McMuffin....I know she'd go for the parfait. So, I'd go for it too. It's about CHOICES. DECISIONS. Eat choice you make can either make you Kate Moss (without the coke addiction, hopefully) or make you Rosie MacDonald. You pick. I know I am.
Inspire Me, Thy Famous One.

Before there were Yummy Mummies, there was the Scary Thin Celebs. It was at this point of celebdom that I was avidly buying gossip mags and tearing each photo and taping it to my wall. I adore the infamous Thin Pins: Mary Kate Olsen, Victoria Beckham, (Sometimes) Paris Hilton, Keira Knightley, KATE BOSWORTH (still a fave), and the most infamous and unbeatable of all: Nicole Richie. The supermodels wowed too, with Kate Moss leading the pack as a Skinny Bitch.
I love them and still do, even though some of them have traded their fabulous style for maternity jeans. It's nice...just, boring. Yes, Bugaboos and Bonpoint is very interesting for your CHILD, but for you...being skinny and haute is the focus. To get thin, one must breathe, sleep and eat thin. When I was thin before, I had immersed my every fibre into the lifestyle and culture of thinness without even knowing. Only now I look back at pics did I realize how wasp thin my waist was and how tiny I really was. It was like I reached Nirvana in Buddhism and I didn't even realize I was living on a higher level until I dropped back down. I'm going to get there again by immersing myself in the culture of SKINNY. These photos are not just photographs. They are inspiration, they are a statement, they are thinspo at it's rawest and most needed. When I see these photos, I see a vision for myself. I see hope. They ARE humans too. If they can survive on edamame and strawberries, so can I. Thank you, famous ones.
